OUR ACHIVEMENTS :

Since 2017, volunteers from the Khata Karpo association have been providing weekly French classes for beginner and intermediate levels.

ONGOING PROJECT :

The training for French language, for young and adult Tibetans in Ile-de-France region, will be provided by FLE (français langue étrangère – French as a foreign language major) teachers as weekly classes as well as residential courses.

Our classes will be designed to enable our students to compete for the DILF, DELF (A1 to B2 level) and DALF (C1 and C2 level) diplomas.

For beginners, we will use a learning method specifically designed for Tibetans, created by Nyima Dorjee, tutor at INALCO University and vice-secretary of our organisation. In this textbook, the explanations on French language grammar will be written in Tibetan.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS:

Cultural outings: Guided tour of the Versailles Palace, the Saint-Denis Basilica, the Notre Dame-de-Paris cathedral, the Fontainebleau park and the Chamarande estate.

ONGOING PROJECT:

• Workshops to discover French History, geography, literature and social codes.
• Tours and cultural outings in Paris and Ile-de-France region (castles, museums, shows, cinema, theatre)

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS:

Every Saturday, two volunteers, one Tibetan and one French speaker, provide administrative and legal assistance: LEARN MORE!

Volunteers translate life stories for the asylum application interview.

We broadcast information concerning the steps to be taken to obtain the refugee status, family reunification, French nationality application, etc. in partnership with a volunteering lawyer specialised in the rights of aliens. 

ONGOING PROJECT:

• Organise administrative and legal assistance provided by a paid social worker and translator on weekdays.
• Organise legal assistance provided by a volunteering lawyer specialised in the rights of aliens on weekdays.
• Update administrative and legal essential information on our website, available in Tibetan, English and French languages.

OUR ACHIVEMENTS:

We acted as a relay for proposals of voluntary hosting French families.

ONGOING PROJECT:

Propose accommodations in elders’ houses in exchange for services (cooking, shopping, cleaning, walking…)

ONGOING PROJECT:

Organise meetings enabling Tibetan refugees who have long been in France to share their diverse experiences and achievements with the newcomers, particularly when it comes to vocational training and opening of businesses.

Ongoing project :

Introduce in a clear and accessible way the French school system and the principles that regulate it, explaining the rights and duties of families and students. This improved understanding of French school system will enable Tibetan parents to better support their children in their school career. A few educational clues in order to encourage the learning process will also be introduced to parents (including the benefits of multilingualism for a child) as well as essential information on school orientations.
